SierraQuat TAM 20 DES
OVERVIEW
SierraQuat TAM 20 DES is a highly active quaternary ammonium derivative, also known as a quaternary ammonium salt or tallow amine quaternized with diethyl sulfate, made from the reaction of tallow amine 20 and diethyl sulfate. The resulting chemical intermediate is a strongly charged cationic surfactant that can be used in detergent formulation, process auxiliary formulation, and as a cationic emulsifier. SierraQuat TAM 20 DES is very common in the formulation of levelling agents for retarding anionic dyes (acid, direct, reactive, milling, and premetallized acid). As a cationic emulsifier, SierraQuat TAM 20 DES is very effective for most systems. The material is more easily dispersed than some cationic surfactants but still will need adequate mixing and is more readily dispersed into warm water. SierraQuat TAM 20 DES is used in some flocculant systems to provide a higher charge when the target for removal is anionic.APPLICATIONS
