SierraEster BO (Butyl Oleate) is an ester formed by the reaction of oleic acid with butanol, resulting in a clear, light-colored liquid. It is widely used as a plasticizer in both natural and synthetic rubber polymers, where it enhances low-temperature flexibility, particularly in materials such as polychloroprene and chlorosulfonated polyethylene. Beyond rubber applications, SierraEster BO is employed as a lubricant in metalworking processes, reducing friction and wear. In cosmetics and personal care formulations, it functions as an emollient, delivering moisturizing properties and improving skin feel.
