SierraSulf SMO

Chemical Name / INCI:

Sulfated Methyl Oleate

CAS #:

68953-26-4

Chemical Family:

Anionic Surfactants > Sulfated Specialties

OVERVIEW

SierraSulf SMO is a specialized surfactant based on sulfated methyl oleate, also known as methyl oleate sulfate or sulfonated methyl oleate. It is especially valuable in latex coatings and film applications, where it functions as both a dispersant and stabilizer. In glove manufacturing, SierraSulf SMO enhances latex stability, improves film thickness uniformity during dipping, and provides a mild wetting effect that penetrates the glove fabric. This wetting action eliminates blisters, strengthens adhesion, and ensures a smoother finish. By optimizing film formation, SierraSulf SMO often allows reduced latex usage, delivering both performance improvements and cost savings.
